Katie Halliday has been performing professionally as a
singer, songwriter and entertainer for the last ten years.
At the age of 16, Katie decided that her chosen career
would be singing! She started out by receiving professional voice coaching
which she continued having for over 10 years by the late “Lou Fyne”. He had
worked in the seventies for EMI Music, formed the “Real Thing” (“You To Me
Are Everything”) and was Hughie Green’s right hand man for the famous
“Opportunity Knocks” show.
Time, practice, and determination led Katie to enjoy
performing live in many different venues, working in hotels, at private
functions, corporate events, summer seasons (as part of a full production)
and on cruise ships.
Her first big break into her recording and writing
career was in 1999 when Katie was discovered by Radio One’s Dave Pearce
who, at the time, was looking for original songwriters for a new BBC1 show.
Getting the chance to work with professional producers from the record
industry, she performed her own song live on the prime time BBC1 show “Get
Your Act Together” which was hosted by Ronan Keating.
Since then, her recording career has taken her to many
parts of Europe, working with record producers on various projects. She has
supported Atomic Kitten, worked as a session singer for many professional
artists and at the studios of Gary Barlow!
Katie has had success with her own recording and writing
career which led to a single in the Top 40 in 2004 with the group “Northern
Heightz”. She toured the UK and abroad, and the group have enjoyed having
their songs appear on numerous compilation albums including: “Floor
Fillers”, “Ministry of Sound”, “Big Tunes”, “Now Dance” and “Clubland 6”.
Katie
has had her own songs published, and has been recently enjoying performing
for corporate parties and private functions.
